Environmental Hazards: Canned Responses

Poor Air Quality Notices: Fires

Wildfires are a very serious concern, posing significant health risks to both animals and humans alike. It’s crucial to maintain open communication with your clients during these challenging times to reassure them about the safety measures you have in place for their pets. We’ve prepared two response templates to address two different situations:

Fire and Air Quality Vigilance Notice: In this notice, you can communicate your vigilance in monitoring the fire situation and air quality to  your clients. You can choose whether or not you want to wave cancelation fees during these types of situations. We do recommend waving the cancelation fees if you have them as your clients are not responsible for the poor air quality.

Hazardous Air Quality Service Cancellation and Safer Alternatives: When the air quality becomes dangerously poor, you may need to cancel certain services and offer safer alternatives. These alternate services are optional, and you can decide whether to implement them based on the severity of the conditions. In cases of extreme hazard, services can be canceled, and both you and your clients can reach out to their emergency contacts as needed.

These templates can help you convey your commitment to pet safety during wildfire events while also providing guidance on how to adapt your services in response to changing conditions. You can copy and paste these notices as needed, feel free to edit the text to fit your policies and procedures.

Important Notice: Monitoring Air Quality for Your Dog’s Safety During Fires

“As a result of the ongoing fires in the area, the air quality has become unpredictable, prompting us to maintain a vigilant watch on the situation through www.airnow.gov. The safety and well-being of your dog remain our top priority, and should the air quality deteriorate to hazardous levels, we may find it necessary to reduce the duration of your dog’s walks. In such instances, we want to reassure you that you will only incur a 50% charge for the affected outing. Should you have any inquiries or concerns, please feel free to reach out, and we will promptly respond to address any questions you may have.

Urgent Service Update/Cancelations of Scheduled Dog Walks: Protecting Your Pets During Hazardous Air Quality

The air quality is currently hazardous. AirNow guidelines highly recommend keeping your pets indoors to ensure their safety due to the fires. To ensure the well-being of both our dog walkers and the dogs, we will temporarily suspend all the scheduled dog walks until there is an improvement in air quality. We understand that some of our members may still need to commute to work, and their companions require a chance to relieve themselves. To accommodate this, we are introducing a 15-minute service option, during which our team members will escort your dog to utilize the backyard or take a short stroll around the neighborhood. Rest assured, we will prioritize a swift return to minimize exposure to unhealthy air conditions.

For those who wish to cancel any upcoming services, please note that we’re waiving all cancelation fees in light of the ongoing fires. We understand the urgency of your concerns and are committed to addressing any questions promptly. The safety and well-being of your companion remain our top priority during this challenging period.”
